Today was the first of Corban and Karis' swimming lessons. I was a bit concerned about how it would go considering that Karis cried and cried when I told her last week that I had signed her up. Fortunately, she had a great time and is looking forward to next week's lesson. During lessons she said, "Mom, can we come to lessons again? This is fun!" She had a few moments of uncertainty, but quickly began to trust her teacher and did things I was very surprised by. If you look at the picture where the teacher has her arms raised, you'll see Karis' head almost completely under the water! WHOA! Later, she mustered the courage to go completely under and held her breath for 4 seconds. I was amazed. Though she shivered almost the whole half hour, she did fabulous. Corban actually surprised me as well with skills I didn't realize he had developed. (I don't swim with my kids very much.) He did a great job at working on things alone as the teacher needed to give more one-on-one time to Karis. He practiced the backstroke, which is challenging when you can't float very well. Unfortunately, he knocked his noggin' on the pool wall twice. Ouch!

I enjoy the pictures so much. I am very proud of Corban and Karis. Tell Karis that she was definitely braver than her mother, but yet Kristen did learn to swim in spite of it all. Corban was doing very well last summer when we were camping--he was an underwater guy--remember the diving sticks?? Take care..,Nan
Remember all those times at the pool when we lived at the Woodlands? It was fun; I remember Daniel's swimsuit with the floater built in, I used to throw him in the water (in the deep end) and he wasn't even scared! I also remember going in with my clothes on a couple of times because he'd jump in without anything on to help him float! He wasn't ever scared! That was a nice set up we had, pool and playground! We had fun living there.
That's also where I met you guys!
